Swedish AI startup founded by former King executive launches after attracting 90,000 users ahead of launch

StoneLeap aims to democratise game creation, enabling millions of people to create, publish and monetise games through artificial intelligence.
As Europe seeks to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, Swedish startup StoneLeap launches today after attracting more than 90,000 users to its waiting list ahead of launch.
Founded by entrepreneur Jonas Schenström together with gaming veteran Sven Kim, former executive at King, the company behind the global gaming phenomenon Candy Crush, StoneLeap aims to dramatically lower the barriers to game creation through AI.
The company's vision is to enable significantly more people to create, publish and monetise games without requiring advanced programming skills or large development teams.
"We believe most people have more ideas than they have tools. AI changes that equation. Our ambition is to make game creation accessible to a much broader audience and unlock a new generation of creators and entrepreneurs," says Jonas Schenström, Founder and CEO of StoneLeap.
BETTING ON THE CONVERGENCE OF AI, GAMING AND THE CREATOR ECONOMY
StoneLeap operates at the intersection of three of the world's fastest-growing digital markets: artificial intelligence, gaming and the creator economy. The global games industry generates more than $200 billion in annual revenue and reaches more than three billion players worldwide. At the same time, the creator economy is estimated to be worth more than $250 billion and continues to expand rapidly.
The company believes AI will fundamentally reshape who gets to participate in the creation of digital products.
"Historically, game development has been concentrated among large studios with significant resources and technical expertise. We believe AI will lower those barriers dramatically, making it possible for far more people to build and commercialise their ideas," says Schenström.
FROM CONSUMERS TO CREATORS
For decades, the gaming industry has been built around a model in which a relatively small number of companies create products consumed by millions of people. StoneLeap wants to shift that balance.
Its platform allows users to generate game concepts, create worlds and characters, develop gameplay experiences, publish titles and potentially generate revenue from their creations. The company believes the next generation of successful games may come from creators who previously lacked the technical skills, resources or access required to enter the market.
A NEW GENERATION OF EUROPEAN AI COMPANIES
StoneLeap launches at a time when Europe is actively debating how to strengthen its competitiveness in artificial intelligence and reduce dependence on foreign technology platforms. While much of the discussion has focused on regulation and infrastructure, StoneLeap represents a new generation of European AI-native companies focused on creating products and platforms for global markets.
"If the internet turned everyone into publishers and social media turned everyone into creators, we believe AI will enable many more people to become developers, founders and entrepreneurs. That is the opportunity we are building for," says Schenström.
The company launches during Google Cloud Summit in Stockholm, where global technology leaders, developers and AI innovators have gathered to discuss the next generation of artificial intelligence.
